West Jefferson FFA Wins Western National Range Management Competition back button

The West Jefferson High School FFA Range Management Team took 1st Place in Western National Range Management Competition held in Orderville, Utah, on Nov 9-10, 2015. West Jefferson competed with 15 teams from 4 states. The states of Idaho, Utah, Wyoming and Nevada. The WJHS team consisted of Mr. Don Bird as advisor, Jerimiah Peterson, Shay Gneiting, Ridge Pancheri, and Torri Pancheri. Peterson placed 4th as an individual, and Gnieting placed 6th overall. During the competition the students identify 15 out of 75 possible plants. Also they identified stocking rates, forage rates and many other factors such as habitat for Sage Grouse. "It takes a lot of wrok" Bird said. " There is a lot to it."
