On Veteran's Day in November, we announced the essay winners from our Local VFW Post essay contest. Those winners' essays went on to the District level. Today, December 10th, District 8 held a luncheon and awards ceremony for their district VFW essay winners. Invitations were mailed to the top 3 in each category to attend this meeting.
District 8 covers multiple counties including Bonneville, Butte, Clark, Custer, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison, and Teton.
West Jefferson had great representation! Here are the district results of those from our school:
Teacher of the Year: Tom Mackay
Patriot Pen 1st Place: Isaac Hall
Voice of Democracy 1st Place: Ethnie Shaffer
Runner-up: Jordyn Torgerson (not pictured)

Each 1st Place winner received a $100 cash prize and a certificate. The runner-up winners received $50 and a certificate.
