Heart attacks have been happening all over West Jefferson High School! For the last week and a half, our leadership class has cut hearts, written messages, and hung up valentines for every student in the school. The leadership students have all helped to think of things they like and appreciate about their fellow classmates. It’s been amazing to walk up and down the hallways and read about the good they see in each other. Yesterday they finished writing them for teachers and staff as well!
West J is really feeling the love this Valentine’s Day!
Thank you, Mrs. Annie Dalling, for guiding this leadership class project!

Our Lady Panthers are still clawing their way through the district tournament. After a big win at Firth last night, our girls advance to Game 7 against Ririe in a loser-out game.
Ririe always has a big crowd! Let's show them how supportive our Panther Fans are!

February 2024 School Lunch Menu

Our Head Girls' Basketball Coach, Jalena Dixon (aka Coach Jo), recently reached a milestone in her coaching career. 100 WINS as Head Coach!
Coach Jo first coached basketball during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons under the direction of Jessica Shanafelt. For those two years, the Lady Panthers earned back-to-back State Championships. Coach Jo then moved out of the area and took a short break from coaching.
In 2013, she returned to West Jefferson as an assistant girls' basketball coach under the direction of Gary Skidmore. After Coach Skidmore retired from coaching, Jalena was named the Head Girls' Basketball Coach for the 2016-17 season and has held that position for 8 seasons.
Coach Jo would like to thank all of the coaches she has worked with over the years. She has learned valuable things from each of them. She wants to especially thank her current assistant coaches, Sharee Perkins, Kami Hirschi, and Greg Williams, for their dedication to the girls' basketball program.
She would like to thank Coach Dave Hadley, who she says has always given her much-needed guidance and support. He has taught her a lot about strategies and the rules of basketball and has been an invaluable mentor to her.
Coach Jo says she is so very thankful for all the girls she has coached and this accomplishment certainly wouldn't be possible without them. They have become lifelong friends to her and one of her greatest joys is getting to see the awesome things they do in their lives after high school.
Last, but definitely not least, she would like to tell her family how much she loves and appreciates them. They have supported her through the ups and downs of coaching, and she is very grateful for them!
Congrats, Coach Jo, on 100 wins!

During the Girls District Basketball Tournament, our Lady Panthers beat Salmon 61-30. They went on to play North Fremont and lost 47-60.
They will now play Firth in Game 5 on Thursday, Feb. 1 at Firth High School. This is a loser-out game.
Go cheer on our girls, and be sure to get there early since Firth bleachers fill up quick!!
