Now on to State in Pocatello May 19 & 20.

Last Minute Call for Volunteers - today we are hosting District Track & Softball. We could use assistance at the track meet at the throwing and jumping events. Volunteers would help measure jumps (not be in charge, just help). Please find Mr. Hadley or Mr. Williams if you can help. Time 12:30 to approx 6:00. Thanks

West Jefferson K-12 students had the opportunity to attend an anti-bullying assembly that was presented by Bikers Against Bullies. The men and women of this non-profit organization take time from their jobs to volunteer at school assemblies and other events to spread their message against bullies. They told personal stories about their own experiences with bullying while they were growing up. They gave the students ideas of what to do if they ever encounter a bully, but more importantly, they encouraged everyone to be nice and to say something kind to a different person every day.
Their trip to West J is captured in more photos and videos on their Facebook page:.

Last year's Mr. West Jeff, Creed Jacobs, passed on the cape to our 2024 Mr. West Jeff winner, Branson Neville.
This annual event is a fund-raiser organized by the Junior Class to raise money for their class fund as they prepare to be Seniors! It's always a night of laughter and fun as the boys compete against each other in similar categories as the girls in the DYW program.

Softball Senior Night - Fri. Apr. 28 @ 1:00pm

Mr. Bird's family is having a retirement party for him and asked that we share this information for them.
Please send any memories or messages to Mrs. Bird at birdc@wjsd.org.

Recently, our students were given the opportunity to be recognized for their hard work not only in the classroom, but in the community as well! National Honor Society(NHS) currently has 30 students who have pledged themselves to one or more of the pillars of NHS: Character, Leadership, Service and Scholarship. The NHS has been involved in outstanding acts of service and we should all take a little time to congratulate these fine students on their achievements! The group of students are advised by Mr. Gore and Mr. Packer. A few of this years NHS activities are listed below:
The National Honor Society organized and ran a Blood Drive on 03/28/2023 and were able to get 30 units of blood.
The NHS also raised over $2,000 for Adopt a Kid for Christmas program where students raised money then bought presents, and delivered presents to needy families.
The National Honor Society in the past has cleaned up litter from the streets, gotten winter clothes for needy families, tutored students who were in need of academic help, and helped in humanitarian efforts.

There have been several changes this week on our Athletic Schedule. Please note that this is the most current information and we will try to post any changes if they happen.
