EDITED TO ADD: The HOME Wrestling match vs. Challis on 1/16 has changed to a 5:00PM start time (not 6.)
A few notes:
~ Three of our games this week will only have 2 quarters for the C-Team game. Please note their start times.
~ Our HS Wrestling Team only has 2 HOME events this year. The first one is this Thursday, so come support our team! (Challis has not confirmed yet if they are bringing their girls wrestling team to wrestle our West J girls.)
~ The JH games on Saturday will be the following schedule:

Our Junior High Boys Basketball Season is underway!
With only four 8th grade basketball players, in order for them to be able to compete, our coaches selected five 7th graders to play on the 8th grade team this year. We are also excited for the handful of 7th grade players that are giving basketball a try for the first time this year!

We are thrilled to welcome Brian Higginson, also known as Coach Higgs, as our new Performance Coach at West Jefferson. Brian is a proud husband to Elaine Fullmer Higginson, a dedicated dad and grandfather, and a passionate coach who has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of athletes.
As the co-owner of Atomic Strength gym in Arco, Idaho, with his wife Elaine, Coach Higgs has spent the last six years coaching athletes in Butte County, helping them achieve remarkable success, including District championships and state titles in football, volleyball, basketball, and track. His commitment to excellence, hard work, and his ability to foster a supportive and driven community have led to these incredible achievements.
Before his time in Butte County, Coach Higgs also coached Jr. High Football in Blackfoot and Butte County, and has taught tennis, personal training, and fitness. As a former Powerlifting Amateur National and State record holder in squat, deadlift, and bench press, Coach Higgs understands the importance of strength, discipline, and perseverance. He is currently training athletes from surrounding areas, including Pocatello, Blackfoot, Mackay, Butte, Carey, and now, West Jefferson.
Coach Higgs is passionate about motivating, teaching, and developing youth athletes to be their best—both on and off the field. His proven system, which includes fast-twitch muscle recruitment, mass-specific force, and progressive ground strike mechanics, is designed to enhance athletic performance for all types of athletes. His methods integrate plyometrics, speed development, strength training, and agility drills, creating a solid athletic foundation for athletes across various sports. Coach Higgs is also certified in Universal Speed Rating (USAR).
We are excited for the positive impact Coach Higgs will have on our student-athletes at West Jefferson High School & Junior High. His dedication to helping them reach their full potential is sure to elevate our sports programs, and we look forward to the journey ahead!

Each week, we will be posting Coach Higgs' Training Schedule when he will be available for our West Jefferson HS & JHl athletes to come to our gym and train with him.

Our high school leadership class has planned a fun week before Christmas Break for students and staff! (Dec. 16th-19th)
In addition to the dress-up days, there will be a Karaoke Contest and a White Elephant Gift Exchange ($5 or less, school-appropriate gifts!)

West Jefferson's Honor Society has been raising money for their annual Adopt-a-Kid for Christmas. The gifts purchased with the money they raise will be kept in our community.
The deadline to donate is Tuesday, December 10th at 4:00pm. If you would like to donate and don't use Venmo, please email advisor Mr. Gore at gores@wjsd.org to let him know how you would like to submit your donation.

Attached is a flyer we were given about a Summer Job Opportunity in West Yellowstone. We will also be having a presentation in January for interested students. Flyers are hanging on the Senior Hall bulletin board.


Mud Lake Museum has posted their schedule of performances featuring our students! The community is invited to share in the festivities!
