We were pleased to have State Superintendent Debbie Critchfield visit our Terreton Campus recently! She was able to meet with Mr. Williams, meet both of our principals, tour the schools, visit elementary & high school classrooms to talk to the students, sit on Mrs. Scott's famous orange couch, and leave with a caramel apple treat as she traveled to another school district that day.
(Mrs. Scott and Mrs. Dalling put together a West Jefferson themed gift for her that included West J colored M&M's with Superintendent Critchfield's face on them!)

Through a state department grant, West Jefferson and Clark County School Districts have teamed up to hire a school nurse. We want to welcome Jolyn Burtenshaw and have asked her to share a little bit about herself and what her role in our district will be.
"Hello West Jefferson!
I'm thrilled to introduce myself as the new school nurse at West Jefferson School District. My name is Jolyn Burtenshaw, and I'm eager to become a part of your school family.
With a BSN degree from BYU-Idaho and a nursing license, I have had lots of previous experience in pediatrics, labor and delivery, and geriatrics. I'm excited to apply my skills to this new role as a school nurse and contribute to the health and well-being of your children.
I'll be available at school every Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. During my time there, I'll be providing medical attention to students who need it, ensuring that we have the necessary policies and procedures in place for student safety, and working closely with parents and students to gather essential documentation. This includes immunization records, exemptions, and birth certificates. I will also be working with parents and students to create action plans for students with health conditions.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to getting to know you and your families. "

Dear West Jefferson High School Sophomores,
Taking the PSAT is an important step in your high school journey, as it serves as both practice for the SAT and an opportunity to identify your academic strengths and areas for improvement. Performing well on the PSAT can open doors to scholarships, including the National Merit Scholarship, and it provides valuable experience for the types of questions and time management strategies you'll need for future standardized tests. By preparing thoroughly and approaching the PSAT with the right mindset, you're setting yourself up for success on both the SAT and in your college application process.
To help you get ready, the Bluebook app is already downloaded on your Chromebook! You can find it in the same location as the ISAT icon. Open the Bluebook app, and use the login information attached to this message to sign in. Once logged in, follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device properly for testing. After that, you will be able to access the official PSAT practice tests, which are designed to simulate the actual test experience. These practice tests will help you get comfortable with the format, work on timing, and build your confidence before test day. Take advantage of these resources to put forth your best effort on the PSAT and prepare yourself for future success!
The PSAT will take place on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the ALC gym. To perform your best, make sure you are prepared by getting a good night’s rest before the test and eating a healthy breakfast the morning of. Arrive on time, and bring your Chromebook fully charged along with any other essentials like pencils and an approved calculator. With the right preparation and mindset, you’ll be ready to do your best! Good luck, and we look forward to seeing you on test day!
Mr. Gemar
