The West Jefferson Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) is gathering donations for their annual "Adopt a Kid for Christmas." All funds will be used to benefit families within our West Jefferson Community.

This 2023-24 Season marks the 50th Anniversary of the 1973-74 Boys Basketball Team which has been the only team to win a Boys Basketball Championship for West Jefferson. This Legacy Team will be honored on Saturday, December 2nd at the WJHS Boys Basketball Home Game.

Congratulations to our VFW Voice of Democracy Essay Winners for this year: 1st Place - Aspen Young (12th Grade), 2nd Place - Cooper Hall (12th Grade), 3rd Place - Daniel Spencer (12th Grade). They were each awarded a certificate and a cash prize from the VFW.

American Heritage Meeting - Monday, Nov. 20th @ 6:00pm in the HS Auditorium for all those going on the trip. If you cannot attend this meeting, you will need to contact Mr. Gore to get the important information that you missed.

There have been some changes in the rules for school basketball. We just wanted to make our Panther fans aware of this before you wonder what in the world is going on when you are watching a ballgame.
Beginning the 2023-24 season, basketball teams will shoot two free throws for common fouls when in the “bonus.” Teams will reach the bonus when their opponent commits five team fouls in each quarter. Team fouls will reset at the end of each quarter. This change to Rule 4-8-1 eliminates the one-and-one scenario and sets new foul limits each quarter for awarding the bonus free throw.
